Prehistoric sites

The Taula is Menorca's most emblematic prehistoric monument.
Menorca is the only place on earth where it is known to exist.

A taula consists of two enormous flagstones forming a "T".

The vertical flagstone - the "stone-support" - as well as the lateral ones used to be very elaborated, while the rear stone helped to sustain the superior flagstone (Taulas that do not have such a rear stone are usually broken or cracked).

Around the Taula, we always find a horseshoe-shaped precinct with pilasters or columns.

Menorca has the greatest concentration of prehistoric sites anywhere in Western Europe.
