Natural Area:
Es Prat de Morella




The wetlands of Es Prat de Morella is one of the wetlands in the northwestern part of Menorca, the other being S'Albufera des Grau.

It features wide swaths of shoreline, an inlet and a number of farms.

On October 7th, 1993 the Island of Menorca was declared Biosphere Reserve by the UNESCO.

Their web site reads as follows:

    The main characteristic of the Menorca Biosphere Reserve is the diversity characteristic of nearly all Mediterranen island ecosystems.

    The most notable habitats are:

    • gullies
    • caves
    • wetland made up of ponds, lagoons and marshes
    • dune systems
    • coasts and
    • inlets
    Some 220 species of birds and 1,000 species of plants (60 of which are endemic) have been recorded.

    You have two options to reach the park:

    Either take PMV-7102 (Es Grau) or PM-715 (Cap de Faváritx).

    There is a reception centre; they will be happy to assist you Wednesdays through Sundays from 9.00 a.m. till 3.00 p.m:
